About Me
- Name: Dr. Taoist
- Location: United States
I am a postdoctoral researcher by day and a concerned citizen of the world by night. After spending a highly productive eleven years of my life in Canada, I moved back to the United States during the second term of the George W. Bush administration. I have blogs on two different topics: peace and health. I urge you to read my first peace post. I created my peace blog in response to the disastrous policies of the Bush administration. This blog offers carefully considered, well-researched alternatives designed to save us from the dangers of political and religious extremism. If the mere thought of fighting these dangers leaves you feeling exhausted, please stay tuned for my first health post. I started my health blog to chart my weekly progress as I train for what should be an Olympic event: packing, moving, and unpacking all my worldly goods!
About This Blog
The Way of Peace sounds an impassioned call to political action based on uncompromising truth and an informed analysis of the facts. This blog also applies the timeless wisdom of Eastern philosophies like Taoism and Zen Buddhism, which have a lot of vitally important things to say about contemporary politics—especially concerning my home country, the United States.
Like many thinking Americans, I fundamentally object to the wave of global violence unleashed by George W. Bush. I am resolutely opposed to Bush's catastrophic policy of perpetual war, and I intend to put an end to it. I will do this by working together with other likeminded American patriots, with other brave citizens whose dissent comes from an uncompromising loyalty to our most fundamental constitutional principles.
Taoist philosophy reminds us that the softness of running water has the power to overcome the hardness of solid rock. In the same way, the nonviolent resistance of our own good people, firmly united in common cause, can end the egregious violence of our woefully bad leaders. Like streams of water which carve canyons out of mountains of rock, our unrelenting opposition will wear their violent policies away, little by little, until not one of them remains.
Q: Why do violent governments despise us peace activists so much?
A: They despise us 'cause we're Royal Pains in the Arsenal (RPA).
